3 sleeps to go...

Not long now and we are both very excited. Adam has gone and got himself a cold though so he's banished to the spare room until we leave or until he gets better so that I don't pick it up off him. Terrible timing for a cold but what can you do!

I had a haircut this afternoon and had more than half of my hair chopped off. Its now at shoulder length so will be much easier to straighten now and depending on the day it might even curl nicely but it has a mind of its own when it comes to the curls!

Been a busy week at work trying to get caught up on everything but will be worth it.

Im just ranting now, waiting for some music downloads to finish so that we'll have some sounds for the plane trip so will wrap it up here.

Take care all.

Spam...

In a vain effort to stop spammers inundating our in boxes with promises of sustainable erections, university degrees and cheap prescription medications, the Department of Internal affairs has launched the NZ Anti-Spam legislation.

The irony in this is that I have received more spam in the last 2 weeks than ever before. Many companies are crumbling under the threat of prosecution and are sending emails to their entire databases to make 150% sure that we are all happy to be on their lists. I can understand the need for smaller companies to perform this operation as they may not be so high tech when it comes to their customer databases but not the "big boys". The big boys have money, and money buys fancy systems and processes that track customer sign ups, they include copy that lets you know what you are signing up for and have you tick a wee box to indicate that you are prepared to receive their emails. To me, this seems more than enough to have deemed and/or express consent.

I have to wonder how many customer contacts they are hemorrhaging by inviting people to unsubscribe? I wish I could find out.

I doubt that this is going to create any head-way into prosecuting spammers, despite what we say about these "scum of the earth" type people; they are pretty smart. They aren't likely to be leaving a calling card at the base of each spam attack so they can be tracked down.

Oh well....Its a nice idea.
