It could've been worse?????

I certainly hope you all get a good laugh out of this wee gem. As the week goes on, I am starting to chuckle about it.

So Tuesday this week I had my first customer email to send out, it was a big one, I mean 77000 people big! That number is still so scary to me, its kind of weird hitting the send button knowing that your email is going to that many people! Any-who...

I had setup the email using HTML format and it was looking brilliant - to cut a long story short plans changed. By this stage it was 4.30pm and the email normally goes out at 10am.

4.45pm rolls around and the new artwork comes through from the agency. At this point let me tell you....I had redone the bloody thing a dozen times because of an issue, I was really crook and drugged up AND my boss is on annual leave in Australia. I put the email together (AGAIN!) and targeted it to our 2 databases, then hit SEND finally at 6.30pm. Sweet! (I thought.) I get a text from my boss Ryan 15 minutes later saying that a friend of his had called to say that his email said Dear Ryan.

BUGGER BUGGER BUGGER!! (polite version!)

I drove like a mad women back to work, ran into the building like a Kenyan Sprinter and paused the send....too little too late. 16000 people had already got an email saying Dear Ryan instead of their own name.

This is the thing about HTML coding, you forget one thing and this is what can happen! How stupid do I feel this week. Never mind, I definitely learnt my lesson and won't be making that mistake again!
